It was a Sunday night, and I was looking forward to my CCA session the next day. I packed my bag, prepared for my badminton CCA session and went to bed.
My alarm clock rang. I crawled out of my bed, unwilling to wake up. I washed my face so that I would be more alert, ate my breakfast and went to school. When I was on the bus, I remembered that I was going to be training for my badminton competition on Wednesday! Feeling lazy, I thought, “How about not going for the training and the competition?” But when I thought of my parents and coaches who would be disappointed in me, I decided to go for the training.
When lessons ended, I scurried out of class and rushed to the Indoor Sports Hall for training. I was going to be late, so I did not have a chance to eat lunch and went straight for training. When I was training, I was a little dizzy and I thought it was just a small thing – but no, it got worse. Then, I felt the most intense pain in my stomach and that was when I decided to tell my coach. My coach asked me if I had lunch. That was when it struck me. I told him I did not and asked if I could go up and rest. He said no. He said that I was not allowed to skip lunch and attend training and insisted that I go and have lunch first.
While I was walking to have lunch, I was really dizzy and felt the pain getting worse. I told my coach and he insisted that I went home. My coach called my parents and told them to help me buy some food and then come to school to pick me up. When my parents picked me up, I ate in the car so that it could fill my stomach a little. My father rushed me to the nearest clinic and the doctor gave me medicine to relieve the pain. He said that not eating while exercising could lead to fainting and told me that I had to eat before going to CCA in future. I hung my head in guilt and said that I would never do it again.
After this experience, I never dared to skip lunch before going to CCA.
